Editorial Policy

We write guides to downtown Kota Kinabalu for readers who want to enjoy the city without fuss. That purpose shapes how we work.

Sources

We gather information on foot and from trusted local sources: shopkeepers, market traders, transport staff, residents, and official notices where they exist. When we use a secondary source, we name it in the article or in a note. We prefer the person at the counter to the press release.

Verification

A fact earns its place after a check. We visit, we ask, we compare. Opening hours, prices and routes get a second look before publication. If two sources disagree, we say so in the piece and tell you what we saw.

Review dates

Every article carries a publication date and a review date. We revisit city-centre pages on a regular cycle, and sooner when a reader flags a change. When we update a page, we adjust the review date and, for a material change, add a line to the article history.

Images

We use photographs we take ourselves or images we have the right to publish. We credit photographers where a credit is due. We avoid stock scenes that show a city other than ours. A photo should help you recognise the place when you arrive.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it. Write to the desk with the page and the detail. We check, we fix, and we note the change. Accuracy is the point of the whole exercise.

Independence

Our editorial choices come from the desk. We describe what we find, in our own words, for the reader in front of us.
